Tutorial for Plus and X’s Block , 10″ finished.

For February 2017, I am Queen Bee at the PEI Modern Quilt Guild. As Queen Bee I request my Bee Mates to create a Quilt Block of my Chosing. I provid them with instructions and some fabric and they piece a Block and return it to me the following month. It is fun to see all the different fabrics you end up with. For my mates I will provide them with the fabric for the corners so my quilt will have some form of order in it. Below is the instructions for my Queen Bee Block.

Plus and X’s Block
10.5″ unfinished

Prepare pieces for Block as per instruction sheet.
Note: D blocks at end of sheet are for corners of A Block.

Draw a line diagonal on all D pieces, on wrong side of fabric.

Place D Blocks on corners of A Blocks as shown.

Stitch all D Blocks onto
A Blocks.

After sewing, iron and fold back onto corners. Trim bulk layers underneath.

Press corners back out and Square Block to 4.5″

Lay out to begin sewing pieces together in correct order. Watch the placement of the corner pieces.

Once centre,top & bottom sections are together , start sewing rows together.

Press Block to set. I press most of my seems open to avoid bulk.

Trim to 10.5″ square.
Voila Block is complete!
